Fire Chief Billy Chase

Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, on July 22, 1959, Billy says that he got to Texas as quickly as the Army would get him here.  Billy served in the Army infantry for more than twelve years and is a disabled veteran.  The Army brought Billy to Fort Sam Houston, where he fell in love with Texas and decided to stay.

He met Denea while stationed here and they married in 1987.  Three of Billy and Denea’s four children were born in their home on Mexico Street where they lived for more than fourteen years.  This is why Billy says “nobody loves Castroville more than I do, three of my kids were born in our home.”

Billy Chase is a self described blue collar guy.  He has been a volunteer fireman with the Castroville Volunteer Fire Company and has served as the department’s Fire Chief for more than twelve years.  Billy is a certified fire chief.  In addition to fire fighting, Billy teaches fire fighters at Texas A&M each summer.

When not teaching fire fighters, Billy teaches marshal arts for which he holds a black belt.  Billy is a member of the Disabled American Veterans.  In his spare time, he works in San Antonio as a diesel truck mechanic.
